Region 3
Dear Region Three Member,
I trust that everyone has had an enjoyable summer, and that everyone continues to enjoy some down time the remainder of the summer. The Board has been at work as always serving you over the last few months. As always I hope this letter finds you well and please do not hesitate to call or email with questions or concerns.
April BOD meeting Highlights
- The BOD has approved a new logo pending some modifications from the marketing firm
- Emily Whitson MS, ATC, a region three member, continues to develop relationships with the IHSA and is hard at work with the Secondary Schools committee.
- A reminder that the IHSA has now implemented drug testing in all championships. Please contact Emily or any board member with questions.
- Final details for the state meeting in November were being made.
- The following BOD positions are open for elections this fall: Treasurer, Membership Director, Regions 1 and, 2 Reps.
June BOD meeting Highlights
- There will be a new “IATA News” to start in August. This is a chance for you as members to be recognized both professional and personally. The new “IATA News” will be posted on the website quarterly. Please submit all requests to me or Bill Frey by the 15th of the month.
- The Board is in the process of developing a “Do it Right” campaign for media who use the correct athletic trainer terminology. More details to follow once the project in finalized.
- Rich Carey, region 2 Representative, has been named the new IATA Archivist. This is a new position and after Rich’s hard work with the archives in Springfield, the vote and approval was easy!
- The new IATA logo is official! The next step in the IATA marketing strategy will be redevelopment of the website. This will be about a six month project. Below is the new IATA logo.

- The 2008 IATA state meeting is set for November 8th-9th at the Hilton in Lisle. Check the IATA website for more info.
