Dan Stephens has worked in the medical field for over 40 years. He was born and raised in west central Illinois, graduated from Western Illinois University and moved to St Louis, Missouri. His medical career as a certified athletic trainer has allowed him to work at many settings in our profession from youth/amateur athletics. He was the director of a sports medicine outreach program serving several high schools and worked as the Head Athletic Trainer at SIU-Edwardsville. He worked with the St. Louis Steamers Professional Soccer and is now working as a department director in an industrial health setting.
He has previously served on the IATA Board as Treasurer and Region 4 Representative. In addition, he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Athletic Trainers for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations. He was inducted into the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame in 2004. He worked with and later served on the Local Organizing Committee for the Prairie State Games coordinating the medical staff. He has also traveled internationally with the Region II Olympic Development Soccer Program U-15 and U-17 boys.
He volunteers with the St. Louis Sports Commission serving on the Local Organizing Committee for major events in the region. He currently lives in Collinsville, Illinois with his wife Dana. They have three children and 4 grandchildren.
